The Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, held a press conference with journalists, during which he presented the latest developments regarding financial support for municipalities and the priorities for the year 2026.

During the conference, it was announced that through the recently approved Normative Act, municipalities will benefit from 1.2 billion lek for the settlement of outstanding liabilities, improving liquidity and strengthening the financial sustainability of local government.

At the same time, for the year 2026, the total budget for municipalities reaches approximately 1.2 billion euros, including:

• local own-source revenues
• transfers from the state budget
• territorial investments by line ministries

The Minister emphasized that this level of funding represents an important step toward strengthening municipalities and is accompanied by greater responsibility for delivering quality services and ensuring sustainable territorial development.
